Day 82 July 14 - Another state finished!
Day 82 July 14 Days miles 14.3 AT Mile 1310.9
Staying in AutoHome camper at mile 1310.9 Trail Head
Hiking time 6hr
Pass plus/minus: 12+
Critter Rescue - 19 Efts!
Total Deer seen - 5 today , 80 total
Animals seen today - A bear cub!
So we intended on doing a 20 mile day but when I reach the northern endpoint I was going to hike south from, Mountain
Lion and her parents were there and they said they saw a sign that said the gate to this park was closed sometime Friday evening till Monday morning! Digging in I found it stated in the map app we use and they were right. So a last minute change was made and this was the only other location I could park at which made it a shorter day.
So Jen saw the most deer, 4 of them and she also leads with bee stings, she got two more today.
As I arrived it started to rain and then pour and thunder and lighting. It got so dark in the woods I had to use my headlamp to see! With my rainskirt on and umbrella I walked through the downpour and a river of water in the trail. Talking with Jen afterwards I learned she had the same experience. It lasted for about an hour and the rest of the day was spent slogging through the wetness.

Yes finished another state!
A cool old building we saw info about at the PA visitor center.
We got done around noon as we started early expecting a long day. We went to a hostel to pick up a new sleep pad for me as mine had popped and had lunch and ice cream.
We then found our way to a Walmart for internet and the sun was out so we had everything that was wet on the hood drying. The looks we were getting were funny!
Afterwards we went to a brewery we found and had a beer with dinner. As we left to head to the trail head to camp for the night the National Weather Service alert cMe on the radio saying we were going to get hit by another wild thunder storm with 60mph winds! We decided to go to Dunkin Donuts
and wait out the storm over an ice tea.
Tomorrow will be a 20 mile day to keep us on track. Checking our progress, we have dine 114 miles in the past 7 days and have done 127 miles in 8 day stretch since we took a zero ie day off.
