Started from RT 27 with a flattish warmup before climbing up to the Horns shelter.
And then the trail started to go up.
We have done this climb before with a foster dog Kai, up to the Horns shelter area. We took a quick break at the pond and at the shelter to use the fancy privys there.
Next up with South Horn peak at 3831ft, it was a good climb and as it is a weekend there are a lot of other people on the trail. Then we went over North Horn Mt at 3810ft.
Next was Bigelow West peak at 4145ft. This was a good climb, we obviously weren't starting at the base but it was a lot of straight up boulder climbing!
At the top we took a break to catch our breath and take in the views.
Below is a look back at the Horns.
Next was Avery peak at 4090ft, it looked like it was pretty much a ridge walk to it but as we got closer it was obvious there was a gap to climb down into before climbing back up.
Great views from up here.
Sometime during the day we saw Walrus (a thru hiker), whom we saw and hiked with off and on a few times down south, he is on the last stretch! He is a fast hiker, left us in the dust today.
Do you see many hikers with sandals on the trail?
