We slackpacked today after taking 4 days off to rest our knees. I was headed southbound and got trail magic in the morning. They were not cooking yet but I did get a beer and oreo cookies! By the time Jen got there around lunch I think she had chocolate chip pancakes!

Trail wasn't bad but with the time off and the heat it was slow going for me. Jen got to the pickup point to get me well before I did. Towards the end of the hike the sky opened up and dumped on us, Jen only got hit for a short time, I got the umbrella out and my rain skirt.

Jen saw a deer and a bunny today.

Afterwards we found a little diner for a late lunch and I had my chocolate chip pancakes with beer!

Day 51 June 6 Days miles 15.1 AT Mile 802.3 Stayed at Inn Hiking time 6hr Pass plus/minus: +6 Critter Rescue -  2 Total Deer seen - 2 today, 23 total Today Jen and I slackpacked which is hiking without all your gear, all we carried was water, snacks and rain gear, so super light.   We see a lot of hikers doing this and we figured why not try it.  Doing this we had to hike alone in opposite directions, I left her at the northern end to hike south and I drove to the last place we stopped on the trail yesterday and hiked north. When she gets to the car she comes and picks me up. Was a pretty standard day for me hiking, it was more about seeing how my back felt hiking without weight on it.  Jen did get to see the dog Huckleberry and his human HH which was exciting for her.
