Today we got out and finished the Shenandoah National Park part of the AT!

We got early and was on the trail at 6am and out at 9!

Saw 4 deer and that was about it for the hike. Afterwards we and Snail and AllDay went to the free Base Camp setup the outfitter and local brewery and other businesses support and took a shower and did our laundry. While we did laundry we had half off beer and ate at thw brewery.

We also met up with some other hikers who we know and one being HH who is the human to the dog Huckleberry who loves people.

Jen and I then headed to Fairfax VA to the REI there to swap put my backpack for hopefully one that my back agrees with.
This last one I have used over 500 miles so far has an issue where the waist belt won't stay tight and all thw weight goes to my shoulders and back.  New one seams better in that respect so hopefully it works for me!

 Got a room at Super 8 and went out to eat again for dinner and the got our gear ready for slack packing tomorrow!

Day 51 June 6 Days miles 15.1 AT Mile 802.3 Stayed at Inn Hiking time 6hr Pass plus/minus: +6 Critter Rescue -  2 Total Deer seen - 2 today, 23 total Today Jen and I slackpacked which is hiking without all your gear, all we carried was water, snacks and rain gear, so super light.   We see a lot of hikers doing this and we figured why not try it.  Doing this we had to hike alone in opposite directions, I left her at the northern end to hike south and I drove to the last place we stopped on the trail yesterday and hiked north. When she gets to the car she comes and picks me up. Was a pretty standard day for me hiking, it was more about seeing how my back felt hiking without weight on it.  Jen did get to see the dog Huckleberry and his human HH which was exciting for her.
