Had to be shuttled to trail so had a late start.
It was raining in the AM when we started but was drying up as day went on.  We didn't wear our seal skin socks so our feet were wet, ugh I love my seal skin socks! This also got our feet wet.

First thing we saw was the oldest Oak Tree in Virginia, they think it's over 300 years old.

Had to fiord a creek so that took time to dry off from.  We also saw a lot of these cairns up on the slope of the ridge.

Walked several miles on a ridge that was Rocky and very difficult to traverse with the wet rocks that were sloped. No views of course.
Really cool Bonzi  like trees up here.
This ridge which went on forever and really high up is the eastern continental divide, which is the separation of where water flows to!

Stopped to eat supper as it would be a long water carry to campsite, means we don't have to carry as much.

We climbed up a mountain to walk a ridge in the late afternoon and the sky opened up and drenched us.  It was going to be too long a walk to reach a shelter so we set up camp in the rain at the campsite we had as our min goal for the day.

This is embracing the suck.

This is a view of the terrain we covered today.
