We stealth camped last night in a neighborhoody area and it was noise from a highway.   But the worst noise was from a bird that was hanging out near us and was squaking all night long! So in the morning Jen installed the Merlin app to help identify it. We got its sound recorded by the app and it could not identify it. She thought it was a peacock qnd once in town we listened to a YouTube video and sure enough that is what it was! We did a lot of hiking at ill call ground level, in woods and through farm fields. Breakfast here was great, we got egg, cheese and meat of our choice, ham for Jen and sausage foe me.  We also got a drink, diet coke for me and got to use a real toilet!  Another exciting thing was a trash can. It's alot like hiking in Maine now, varies from pine needle covered forest floor with roots to rocks and then borders you have to scramble over. It was getting hot towards the afternoon and we did alot of field walking, our umbrellas were really nice to have for that.   Afterwards, we walked into the to...

First off we got our car shuttled ahead about 66 miles by a friend that is providing support to her husband and 11 year old daughter who are both thru hiking. So we are rediscovering what full packs feel like!  This appears to be a mini Statue of Liberty in this river. So first I may not have mentioned it but we crossed into PA on June 26.  Today we crossed the half way point, several times.   I think the last picture made in rocks is the 2023 mile point. Second we crossed the 1100 mile marker too!  Next was doing the half pint ice cream challenge!  It actually is to eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream challenge but Jen and I both didn't want to make ourselves sick and th...

Yes we crossed the Mason Dixon line! Several double shelter sitess here. We made it through before it rained and went out to eat at Applebee's. Funny thing is both of us were not able to eat our whole meal, we were stuffed.  I'm sure before we go to bed we will be hungry again. Afterward we planned on parking at an overnight lot by a day park called Pen Mar and we hung out there chatting with...
