Today was a big day with multiple accomplishments.
First off we got our car shuttled ahead about 66 miles by a friend that is providing support to her husband and 11 year old daughter who are both thru hiking. So we are rediscovering what full packs feel like!

Today was a big day with multiple accomplishments.
First off we got our car shuttled ahead about 66 miles by a friend that is providing support to her husband and 11 year old daughter who are both thru hiking. So we are rediscovering what full packs feel like!
This appears to be a mini Statue of Liberty in this river.
So first I may not have mentioned it but we crossed into PA on June 26. Today we crossed the half way point, several times. I think the last picture made in rocks is the 2023 mile point.
Second we crossed the 1100 mile marker too!
Next was doing the half pint ice cream challenge! It actually is to eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream challenge but Jen and I both didn't want to make ourselves sick and then hate ice cream.
Last big deal was going to the ATC Museum and seeing Myron Averys distance measuring wheel that he measures the entire AT with and some more than once as the trail got rerouted!
We are starting to see these furnaces, that is we are assuming why Pine Grove Furnace gets its name. We think it's for melting down iron ore.
