Day 37 May 21, Days miles 17.3 AT Mile 569.8
Stayed at Chestnut Knob Shelter
Hiking time 9.5hr
Pass plus/minus - 0
Critter Rescue -  8

Today there was a lot of field and pasture walking, even with cows in the pastures. On the way we saw another deer!

They have some interesting ways to get across the fence as Jen is showing us.
Neat bridge at this farm.
I just like this sign.
There was also a washed out bridge and we had to fiord  the river, was calf high at most but in early spring must of been bad!

We saw three hikers going south bound with daypacks. One was someone we had hiked and Camped with. We asked him what they were doing. It was a Cake Walk. The hostel they were staying at shuttled them 26 miles north and they walk back and upon return they get to eat cake.  Seems a good deal for the hostel as they then have to stay another day!

Most of the afternoon was spent climbing Chestnut Knob to huge pastures, we assume there used to be a farm up here long ago.  Some of the trail was even as wide as a logging road.
Looks like there was some buildings up here.
We reached the shelter at 4pm that used to be the fire wardens cabin, very nice inside. It is set st the top of Chedtnut Knob. There was only one other hiker so we stayed in it.
