Allagash's Gear

Allagash here, I'll be going by my trail name Squirrel which was given to me on our shake down hike last fall in the 100 Mile Wilderness, really don't know why.

First an overview of all my gear, I have a red jogger lead to keep my person on the trail and behaving, it's stretchy so when they are not paying attention they don't pull me over. The maroon and green thing is my backpack, I like it cause when I want to take a scooch in a stream they can easily take my pack off of my harness. 

Speaking of harnesses, the red bag I am told is a rescue harness, don't know why they bringing it as I will not need rescuing and I for sure can't carry either of them!

Next is my rainsuit it's in the yellow pouch, Jen found it for me, not quite sure I like it, here's me in it.
Last is my sleeping gear, the orange thing is my bed and it's comfy but theirs looks alot comfyier!  The blue bag is my quilt which I really like, it hooks to me so if I get up and spin at night it stays on me, I'm wearing it in pic below.
I can also wear it around camp before bed.

I also have a couple pairs of booties for when the trail is rough, but I'm tough and won't need them so I didn't take a picture of them.  That's it for me, see you on the trail!

Final 2023 Update

So after our last day hiking on Aug 6th we had events that needed our time and it took us away from the trail for a long time and we have decided to call it for the year.  We may try to come back and finish it next year but have no idea at this point if we will. We did get to see some of the friends we met along the trail later. We had friends on trail nearby and we went to camp to meet them. We also did trail magic at the RT 27 trail head near camp while we waited for them and saw some friends passing through. This is Lucky and Dreamsicle, we met Lucky way down in Georga and Jen became her trail mom.  We hiked off and on with her for awhile and then we got separated but kept tabs on each other. Day 91 Aug 6 Mile 2020.2 to 2026.6

Day 91 Aug 6 Mile 2020.2 to 2026.6 Days miles 6.4 AT Maine total miles.- 37 Allagash total AT Miles - 276.1 Stayed at Stafford Notch campsite Hiking time 4 hr Total Deer seen - 0 today , 94 total Animals seen today - Grousse We had spent the night at Strafford Notch campsite with a good water source and a privy which is always nice. The paths through the site were not well marked so we didn't find a good tent pad and just set up on the side of the access trail to it. was pretty flat but also quiet as there were a lot of people there and other dogs. We had one 3k mountain (Little Bigelow) today and then a long 2000 ft decent to get to the car. The terrain was still tough, lots of roots and slick smooth rocks to climb down so was a slower pace than we thought we could do.  There was some nice views from this lower peak though of Sugarloaf. Day 90 Aug 5 Mile 2010 to 2020.2 Days miles 10.2 AT Maine total miles.- 30.6 Allagash total AT Miles - 269.7 Stayed at Stafford Notch campsite Hiking time 9 hr Total Deer seen - 0 today , 94 total Animals seen today - 1 snake Today was a big day, for all of us. We are doing the Bigelow range in two days so have our full packs for an overnight stay.  This is a tough section, really tough first day with climbing 2 3K mountains and 2 4K mountains in one day. Started from RT 27 with a flattish warmup before climbing up to the Horns shelter. Alli has become a log crossing master. . And then the trail started to go up. This is a view of the Horns pond.
