The paths through the site were not well marked so we didn't find a good tent pad and just set up on the side of the access trail to it. was pretty flat but also quiet as there were a lot of people there and other dogs. We had one 3k mountain (Little Bigelow) today and then a long 2000 ft decent to get to the car. The terrain was still tough, lots of roots and slick smooth rocks to climb down so was a slower pace than we thought we could do.  There was some nice views from this lower peak though of Sugarloaf. Started from RT 27 with a flattish warmup before climbing up to the Horns shelter. Alli has become a log crossing master. . And then the trail started to go up. This is a view of the Horns pond. We have done this climb before with a foster dog Kai, up to the Horns shelter area.  We took a quick break at the pond and at the shelter to use the fancy privys there. We slept at the trail head in the roof top tent the night before and Allagash did great getting in and out of it. On the drive to our start point Jen saw a moose. There was plenty of signs of moose on the trail. Jen also saw this fellow. The trail was pretty flat which allowed us to make some good time but it was really muddy at times! We walked along the shore of two ponds for quite a while so had nice views and a breeze at times to keep the bugs away. A section of the trail followed the path Col Benedict Arnold took to portage their boats over the land on the expedition to attack Qu...
